Following India’s independence in 1947, the city of Barabanki began to develop as an important city in Uttar Pradesh. The government established a District Magistrate Office and a Collectorate to manage administration, law, and development. The offices of the District Magistrate, and the Superintendent of Police, became the centers of government work in Barabanki city. Around this time, the Uttar Pradesh Government Roadways also introduced regular bus services between Lucknow and Barabanki city to better facilitate travel.
Barabanki Junction railway station also served as a major factor towards the development of the city. Barabanki Junction connected Barabanki city with other major cities, and over time became electrified and modernized, especially in early 2000s. The Barabanki–Bahraich Highway (NH 927) was also upgraded, connecting Barabanki city to Shravasti and further towards the India–Nepal border. The expressway created new entry and exit points near Barabanki city, helping local businesses and travelers.
