Since independence in 1947, Bulandshahr, a city in Uttar Pradesh, has witnessed rapid growth and development in different areas, primarily administration, infrastructure, politics and economy.

In the years after independence, the administrative structure of Bulandshahr was created with the formation of important government offices, including the D.M., Collector and Superintendent of Police. These offices played a crucial role in maintenance of law and order, revenue collection and implementation of government orders. The administrative headquarters of the district was Bulandshahr city.

The city also saw several historical buildings as well as public spaces built. One of these, Raja Babu Park, was built in 1837 and renamed Maharani Victoria Park in 1901, when the Queen Victoria statue was put in place. The park became a place for public recreation, also being an example of colonial architecture.

Bulandshahr has now reached some important milestones in terms of infrastructure and economic development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects more than ₹19,100 crore in Bulandshahr in 2024, including rail, road, oil and gas, and urban development projects.

Bulandshahr has roadway connections to the large road and expressway network in the region. The Ganga Expressway, a 594 km high-speed corridor connecting Meerut to Prayagraj, passes through Bulandshahr. This expressway is under construction and is expected to open to public traffic in December 2025.

In addition, the Upper Ganges Canal Expressway, referred to as the Hindon Expressway, is an eight-lane expressway currently under construction and spans 150 km in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It runs between Bulandshahr to Haridwar, and also passes through Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee.
